Oracy

The intent for Oracy at Devonshire Infant and Junior Academies is to develop pupils’ speaking and listening skills, fostering a culture where spoken language is valued as an essential life skill that underpins all aspects of learning and personal development. 

We aim to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where all children can confidently express themselves, engage in purposeful conversations, and develop their communication skills in a range of contexts. 

We foster a culture of respect for diverse perspectives and active listening, thereby equipping pupils with the skills that will help them to thrive in their academic achievement, personal development and future prospects. 

Our overarching intent is to equip our pupils with the ability to be competent and confident to articulate their thoughts coherently, collaborate effectively and contribute positively to their communities.
